This is a stylized Cold War spycraft in a modern setting – and it’s a very satisfying watch

Gary Oldman plays the quintessential old trunk, an MI5 spy left over from the Cold War (and banished to Slough House), who still parries the shadows and sees real threats before anyone else.

Another well-realized series that creates its immediate world with details about setting, character (and transformation) – indispensable elements of a good story

If you’re new to this series now that Season 2 has been released, you should do yourself a favor and binge Season 1 first – it’s a good yarn and will offer depth of character and situation that will add to your enjoyment.

Highly recommended – Oldman and Kristin Scott-Thomas are great, as are Jack Lowden and Saskia Reeves

Season 2 seems to have upped its game in terms of production design and cinematography – it really paid off and elevated the series above the usual weekly episode of grind TV.
