A24 saw the script and greenlit the film before production on “X” even finished

In 1979, a group of young filmmakers set out to make a grown-up film on a rural Texas farm, but when their lonely, elderly hosts discover them in the act, the team finds themselves fighting for their lives. A day after the release of X’s South by Southwest (2022), writer-director Ti West revealed that during a mandatory two-week COVID-19 quarantine at his hotel in New Zealand ahead of production on that film, he wrote a prequel, Pearl (2022 ). He asked star Mia Goth if she wanted to stay in New Zealand and film The Pearl, and she immediately agreed.

No opening credits

The backstory was released later in 2022. When Lorraine goes into the basement and turns on the light, there is a modern halogen bulb that wasn’t available in 1979. Maxine: I won’t accept a life I don’t deserve.

The title doesn’t even appear on the screen until the end. I can’t deal with movies full of characters who just walk around without any instinct and do the dumbest things they can choose to do before they get killed.

The gender is obvious

That’s literally the entire movie. The “action and blood” is pretty bland. The characters are idiots.
